Theresa Geißel

Destination development, Innsbruck Tourismus

With a Bachelor's degree in Geography (specialising in tourism) and a Master's degree in Tourism and Regional Development, Theresa Geißel works in the field of sustainable destination development. She has been Sustainability Coordinator at Innsbruck Tourismus since 2022 and is working on measures for a sustainable destination as part of the tourism strategy "Region Innsbruck erLEBENSWERT". She is currently putting together an internal Green Team at Innsbruck Tourismus in the additional role of Chief Sustainability Officer. Together with TVB Seefeld, she is working on a LEADER project that promotes more inclusive tourism through workshops and a practical guide for accommodation providers.

Accessibility in tourism is a key aspect of sustainable development as it ensures that all people - regardless of physical, sensory or cognitive impairments - have equal access to tourism offerings. The aim is to remove physical, social and communication barriers in order to promote inclusive and equitable tourism.

The thematic block consists of an opening lecture, the presentation of a best practice and a subsequent panel discussion.
