Head of the Competence Centre for Sustainability, Swiss Tourism Federation

Romy Bacher has been Head of Sustainability at the Swiss Tourism Federation since January 2022 and is responsible for setting up the Competence Centre for Sustainability (KONA). She holds a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration with a specialisation in Tourism & Mobility and a Master's degree in Business Development & Promotion from Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts. Thanks to her professional commitments in the hotel industry and various tourism organisations, she is very familiar with the concerns of Swiss tourism and, together with her team, is committed to making tourism more sustainable.

Accessibility in tourism is a key aspect of sustainable development as it ensures that all people - regardless of physical, sensory or cognitive impairments - have equal access to tourism offerings. The aim is to remove physical, social and communication barriers in order to promote inclusive and equitable tourism.

The thematic block consists of an opening lecture, the presentation of a best practice and a subsequent panel discussion. Speakers will be added on an ongoing basis.
