How can events serve as a starting point for new mobility services in tourist regions? The ‘gig tripping’ trend shows that people travel specifically to attend events – from marathons and festivals to concerts – stay longer and rediscover destinations. This is precisely where a major opportunity lies for tourist regions: events can not only attract local and international visitors, but also make new mobility solutions visible, tangible and scalable.
The aim of the workshop is to work together to identify how Austrian regions can make targeted use of events to design, implement and ensure the long-term effectiveness of new mobility solutions. Drawing on 124 ready-to-implement solutions from POINT&’s European Mobility & Tourism Innovations Initiative, as well as activities surrounding the Eurovision Song Contest, concrete ways will be highlighted to show how events can become platforms for implementing sustainable mobility solutions, creating new value and enhancing visitor experiences.
