How can research contribute to the practical development of sustainable tourism? And how can scientific findings be translated into practical knowledge for destinations and businesses?

This interactive workshop brings together stakeholders from the worlds of research and tourism to discuss the latest findings on sustainable tourism development in Austria. Colleges and universities will present ongoing research and practical examples addressing key future challenges in tourism – from visitor management and habitat-oriented approaches to sustainable mobility and regional value creation.

In this exchange between academia and practice, the focus is not only on results, but above all on their applicability and relevance. Short presentations, poster sessions and World Café discussions create space for networking, a change of perspective and new collaborations.

The workshop highlights evidence-based approaches to sustainable tourism development and demonstrates how research can help make sustainability in everyday tourism more concrete, transparent and effective.
